DPI Use Cases: Community Consultation and Preview

Overview
The DPI Use Cases Explorer Community Consultation and Preview Session was held virtually on Thursday, 9th October 2025. Hosted by Kalpa Impact, and supported by Co-Develop, the event brought together a diverse community of practitioners, researchers, and policymakers committed to advancing digital public infrastructure (DPI).
The session attracted participation from over 54 attendees, representing over 50 organisations from over 10 countries, including organisations such as the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure, Digital Public Goods Alliance, Technology Readiness Level, eGov Foundation, Digital Impact Alliance, OpenSPP, and the Digital Public Goods Alliance.
The beta version includes 130 implementation examples across 50 countries, drawn from 25 research reports and 32 key informant interviews. Sectoral coverage includes social protection, agriculture, and health, among others.
Event Summary
- The session opened with the host, Sushant Kumar – Founder and CEO at Kalpa Impact, outlining the goals and structure of the consultation
- CV Madhukar – CEO at Co-Develop, delivered a keynote emphasising that DPI must be seen as a framework enabling inclusion and innovation across sectors
- Sourav Das from Co-Develop outlined the need to build a dynamic, interactive resource and not a static report
- Sushant Kumar outlined the goals of the Explorer and its Research Methodology
- Purva Agrawal from Kalpa Impact, demonstrated the Explorer’s functionality to navigate the Explore section by sector, country, or DPI component, bookmark examples, share or export them as PDFs, and use the Collaborate section for inputs from the DPI ecosystem
- Honey Agarwal, and Pranjal Kothawade from Kalpa Impact, shared the implementation examples they found most compelling during their research
Community Insights and Feedback
Participants were invited to explore implementation examples from their regions in the Explorer through a short activity using the Collaborate section. Following this, the floor was opened for feedback, inputs, and questions from participants.
Key discussion points included Daniel Abadie’s request for a fully browsable mobile version and Jonathan Dolan’s suggestion to collaborate with other partners in the ecosystem. Rowan Wilkinson recommended adding comparison tools to view or export multiple implementation examples, while Priya Jayaraman noted that including impact metrics such as citizens reached or funds disbursed would be a valuable addition. David Porteous, Shubham Shinde, and Shruti Mittal raised important questions on maintaining data accuracy and incentivising community contributions.
